CHARSADDA, Jan 19: A labourer was killed and his two brothers were wounded on Thursday when their donkey cart hit an explosive device planted by unknown miscreants here in Matta Mughalkhel area of Shabgadar.
The blast occurred at Kochi Baba locality and as a result one Safi, 16, was killed on the spot while Habib, 14, and Mohsin, 18, sustained injuries. They were taken to a local hospital.
Sources said that Shabgadar police was the apparent target of the miscreants, as the explosion occurred minutes after they crossed the area. Following the blast, the police cordoned off the area and started search operation.
SHERPAO SLAMS GOVT: Chief of his own faction of Pakistan People's Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that wrong policies of the present government are responsible for the current tussle between the state institutions.
Speaking at a public meeting here in Shabgadar on Thursday, he said that the ongoing confrontation was the result of memogate and NRO issue. He alleged that policies of the government were in clash with the national interests and the prevailing situation had created anarchy-likesituation in the country.
Mr Sherpao said that people had been facing problems due to the bad governance, unemployment, corruption and gas and power loadshedding. He said that the rulers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had got votes in the name of Pakhtunwali, but they failed to stop the killing of innocent Pakhtuns in different parts of the country.
The PPP-S leader stressed the need for joint efforts to steer the country out of the prevailing situation.
Sikandar Sherpao, Saleem Khan and Mohammad Ali also spoke on the occasion. They claimed that after coming into power they would ensure accountability of the current rulers for their corruption.
PROTEST: Office-bearers of Wapda Hydroelectric Labour Union, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, held a protest rally here on Thursday against the proposed sellout of Wapda, urging the government to stop the authority's privatisation.
They also opposed the appointment of secretary board of directors, Islamabad, on a huge salary and demanded his sacking. The protestors chanted slogans against the government and Wapda privatisation. Those who spoke on the occasion included district chairman of the railway labour wing Ikramullah, Fazal Mehmood and others.
