GUJRANWALA, Nov 27: A man killed his two daughters in Rahwali on Wednesday.
Police said that owing to financial constraints, coachman Muhammad Sharif’s wife went to her parents a few days ago after quarrelling with him. He had been living with his daughters — Nasira Bibi, 15, and Tasleem Bibi, 7 — since then.
The girls demanded new cloth for Eid. Sharif was unable to meet their demand. He killed his daughters and packed the body of Tasleem in an iron box. He put the body of Nasira in the compound of house and raised alarm that someone killed her and kidnapped Tasleem.
Later, he reportedly told police during interrogation that he killed his daughters.
Cantonment police registered a case against him.
SACKED: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri on Wednesday terminated junior clerk Nasir Husain from service.
The clerk had been absent from his duty without seeking permission or informing the authorities concerned.
SUSPENDED: A clerk of Sabzi Mandi police station was suspended from service on Wednesday.
Muhammad Akram has been accused of not timely informing the senior police officers about the killing of PPP city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun and his guards. As a result, the attackers managed to escape from the scene.
An inquiry has also been initiated against him.
CONDEMNED: The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA), the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and other organization of teachers and doctors on Wednesday condemned the termination of senior teachers and doctors from service.
Speakers at a meeting at the Government Islamia College said that these teachers and doctors were ‘punished’ for taking part in protest rallies against the constitution of boards of governors for health and educational institutions.
They said that they would continue their protest till the acceptance of their demand. The meeting was presided over by PPLA president Prof Mahboob Ahmad.
PMA’s Gujranwala chapter president Dr Ishtiaq Safdar Tarar demanded that all sacked teachers and doctors should be reinstated in service.
Later, the participants in the meeting took out a protest procession which terminated at Gondlanwala Chowk on GT Road.
They were carrying banners and placard and chanting slogans against the government.
Meanwhile, representatives of students organization said that they would took out protest procession on Thursday (today).
STABBED: A girl was stabbed to death on Wednesday by her uncle over her bad character in Eminabad.
The girl ‘A’ had eloped with her alleged lover Muhammad Rashid a few days ago. On Wednesday, she returned to her house but could not satisfy her uncle Riaz Ali about her absence. He lost his temper and stabbed her with a knife and escaped.
Eminabad police have registered a case and are investigating.
