HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The members of the local councils and village elders of Tando Jam have expressed grave concern over the alleged harassment of the villagers by some retired officials at the instance of the vice chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University, Dr Bashir Ahmed Chandio.

Speaking at a news conference at the Tando Jam press club on Tuesday, Naib Nazim of Moosa Khatian union council, Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah, councillors Dilmurad Khushk and Anwar Kaleri, and village elders Sadruddin Chandio and others, said that the pathway to many villages of Tando Jam was blocked by the university authorities and no vehicle could reach the villages.

They appealed to the president, Sindh Governor and IG to order an inquiry through the DPO, Hyderabad, to find out why was the pathway of the villagers blocked and why the villagers were being harassed and threatened by the university officials.

Entry test: The University of Sindh on Monday announced the results of entry test, conducted on Nov 24, for admission to bachelor’s degree courses.

A total number of 4,378 candidates had appeared in the test.

Danish Saif Talpur of Hyderabad secured first position by getting 321 marks out of 400, Ghulam Hussain of Hyderabad district stood second by getting 304 marks, Hira of Mirpurkhas stood third by obtaining 302 marks and Majid Nooruddin of Dadu secured fourth position by getting 297 marks.

MERIT LIST: The director, admissions, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, has announced the first list of candidates, provisionally selected for admission to master’s degree courses.

The director said objections against any admission could be filed up to Nov 27 and the final list of selected candidates would be notified on Nov 28.
