ISLAMABAD, Nov 25: President of the transitional Islamic government of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, has congratulated Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali on his assumption of the office.

“On the occasion of obtaining majority in Pakistani parliament and your appointment as prime minister of the neighbouring and brotherly country Pakistan, I, the people and government of Afghanistan congratulate you wholeheartedly,” Karzai said in a message.

He said: “We hope that the new political atmosphere in Pakistan will help in bringing close and friendly relations of both the neighbouring and brotherly countries.”—APP
