Three ships discharging urea

KARACHI, Dec 31: Around 13 vessels after discharging around 495,000 tons of urea at the Gwadar port have sailed out and three other ships are presently discharging the commodity.

So far, 16 vessels loaded with 625,000 tons of urea have reached Gwadar port, official sources said.

Two more ships mv STX Rapido and Mv Olympias, with 96,000 tons of urea are due to call during the next few days at the port.

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has floated international tenders for import of around one million tons of urea to meet the shortfall being faced by the country for Rabi season.

Sources said that the TCP had managed to save around $0.4 million on rapid movement of urea from port area to hinterland andpresently the National Marketing Fertiliser Ltd (NMFL) is actively involved in distribution of urea.

According to details, presently three vessels Bulk Parasio, Vosco Sky and Aggelos B are discharging urea whereas Chung Tres carrying 49,000 tons is waiting at the outer anchorage.

The TCP spokesman said that urea arrival started on Nov 30 and within a short period of one month, bulk of the imported urea has reached the country.—Staff Reporter
