LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 21: The People’s Primary Healthcare Initiatives (PPHI) programme has been launched in the district with the objective to improve the performance of basic health facilities and provide the people with better healthcare opportunities.The programme was formally kicked off in a ceremony held in district headquarters complex Tajazai the other day. DCO Nisar Ahmad, ACO Syed Khalid Israr Shah, PPHI district support manager Mohammad Luqman Khattak, heads of line departments and medical and paramedical staff attended the ceremony.

PPHI district support manager Mr Luqman said keeping in view the impressive performance of PPHI in several districts of the province the programme was extended to four other districts, including Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Abbottabad and Mansehra.

He said the programme would help improve health services delivery in the district.

He said the PPHI would work for enhancing capacity building of medical and paramedical staff besides coordinating with the health department to ensure attendance of health staffers in the basic health units and rural health facilities.

DCO Nisar Ahmad assured that the local administration would extend all out support to make the programme a success.

SHOT DEAD: Unidentified armed men killed a young boy in Baistkhel village in the jurisdiction of Tajori police station the other night.

Police said Dil Fayyaz (19), son of a local ANP leader Gul Fayyaz, was going home from his guesthouse along with his father at night when unknown attackers ambushed them.

Quoting an FIR lodged by deceased’s father Gul Fayyaz police said Dil Fayyaz died instantly while his father narrowly escaped. The complainant told police they had no enmity with anyone. Police registered a case against unknown killers and started investigation into the murder incident.
