HYDERABAD, Nov 23: Sindh education minister Sardar Khan Mohammad Dahiri on Saturday inaugurated the Makhdoom Shafiq Zaman Auditorium at the M. G. Government High School, Hala.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the minister said the auditorium had been completed at a cost of Rs5.8 million.
He said Rs40 million had been released to school management committees (SMCs) and added the amount would be increased up to Rs100 million.
Dahiri said the Sindh government had allocated funds and announced other incentives for promoting the standard of education but the desired result had not been achieved.
He said teachers, parents and students should play their due role in improving the standard of education.
He warned if any teacher was found absent from duty, he would be sacked.
The minister said cases of promotion of teachers had recently been finalized and added funds were being provided for purchase of school furniture. He said computer training fee had been reduced from Rs1,000 to Rs500.
He said girl students were being given scholarships and students up to class 8 had been provided with free text books.
Dahiri said the Sindh governor had approved the appointment of about 700 middle school teachers and added the appointment letters would be issued within one month.
The EDO, education, Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, said 300 cheques of Rs1,500 each and 433 cheques of Rs750 each were being given to students in the Hyderabad district under the scholarship scheme.
Later, the minister, the district Nazim and the taluka Nazim distributed scholarship cheques and issued appointment letters to eligible persons of Hala and Matiari talukas for posts of primary school teachers.
