RAWALPINDI, Nov 22: The mystery shrouding the fire that gutted almost a century old revenue record in the district courts on Wednesday has taken a new turn, as the police investigating team has found no evidence of “short-circuiting”.

“No evidence of short-circuiting has been found so far, which could be blamed for the fire,” an investigating officer disclosed on Friday.

Two separate probing teams, one comprising acting SSP Rawalpindi Sabir Ahmed, two DSPs and one SHO, while the other team from district administration, have been formed to investigate the incident.

The police team led by acting SSP Sabir Ahmed on Friday visited the revenue record room. The team is scheduled to visit the site on Saturday and ferry the revenue record (which has been saved) to a safer place.

An officer from the fire brigade department said the fire had erupted again on Friday but it was brought under control. “It was a major disaster, the record was important and we do not know about the quantum of the damage.

However, our priority is to shift the left-over record to a safe place,” the investigating officer said.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been got registered with the Civil Lines police station, however, nobody has been nominated in the FIR.
