ISLAMABAD: The World Squash Federation (WSF) has lifted a one-year ban imposed on the former secretary of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), Wing Cdr Irfan Ashgar.

The former secretary who is also an Asian senior’s squash champion was banned for one year and barred from appearing in WSF events by the disciplinary and appeal committee of the WSF on Oct 7, which also imposed around $780 fine on him.According to an official statement issued by the PSF, the WSF took the decision of banning Irfan on the basis of a statement that appeared in a local newspaper, alleging that then PSF secretary (Irfan) had linked delay in visas acquisition for Pakistan junior team proceeding to Belgium to the WSF and its president.

However, the federation not only kept on denying the charge against Irfan, but also took the case before the appeal panel of the WSF.

Consequently, the appeal panel agreed to the PSF’s point of view that resulted in the acceptance of Irfan’s appeal and annulment of the earlier decision by the disciplinary committee.
