FAISALABAD, Nov 20: Students and teachers are being instigated by ‘some miscreants’ against the government for their personal gains.
This was alleged by Muhammad Saleem Umar, Muhammad Nawaz Vohra, Shaheen Tabassum and other members of different boards of governors of local educational institutions.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, they alleged that the so-called ‘custodians of education’ were observing strikes and holding demonstrations to create law and order problems in their cities. “Instead they should hold parlays with the government or representatives of the BoGs to resolve the issues.”
They said that all the BoGs in the province were working for providing better health and educational facilities to the people. “There is no other motive behind this noble cause.”
They claimed that not a single teacher has been transferred so far from his post since the setting up of the BoGs. “No BoG is entitled to transfer any government employee.”
The claims of the teachers protesting against increase in fee was also baseless. The BoGs were making hectic efforts to slash the tuition and other fees of different schools and colleges instead of raising the same.
A comprehensive plan was being prepared to introduce business education to the students so that they could play their vital role in the society after completing their studies.
The BoGs members said that Governor Khalid Maqbool had constituted a committee to resolve all issues, being raised by the protesting teachers. These include transfers of teachers and professors, sale of land and equipment of schools and colleges.
They said that scores of industrialists and traders had been running charity hospitals and schools by spending millions of rupees for the last many years.
The induction of businessmen in the BoGs was aimed at providing cheaper health care and educational facilities to the poor with the financial assistance of the well-to-do, they added.
