DADU, Nov 20: The small growers held demonstrations in Johi and Sehwan on Wednesday to protest against the shortage of water in the waterways originating from the Johi branch and Dadu canal.
JOHI: A large number of growers gathered outside the Johi Press Club on Wednesday to protest against the artificial shortage of water in Chinjani, Chhinni, Lakha Noonari, and seven other waterways originating from the Johi branch.
The growers, who were carrying banners, raised slogans against the irrigation officials.
They were led by Imam Bux Jamali, Ismail Jamali, Arz Mohammad Rodhnani, and Bhooro Jamali.
They complained that the influential landlords obtained water from the waterways by bribing the irrigation officials.
They threatened to continue their protest if water was not provided to them soon.
SEHWAN: A large number of growers held a demonstration in Sehwan Sharif to protest against the water shortage in Bambha and 10 other waterways originating from the Dadu canal.
The protesters were led by Mohammad Hashim Siyal, Abdul Qadir Brohi, and Saeedullah Brohi.
They alleged that the local irrigation officials were selling water to the influential landlords as a result of which the tail of Bambha remained dry.
SUICIDE: A boy, Talib Jamali, 14, committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun over some domestic problem in the Ghazi Jamali village, Dadu Taluka, on Wednesday.
PROTEST HELD: A large number of people including shopkeepers held a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday in protest against the administration of the Taluka Municipal Council Dadu for demolishing the front parts of their shops.
The protesters were led by Mevo Khan Solangi.
The demonstrators said that the Taluka municipal administration had demolished the front parts of their shops and had caused them a heavy loss.
PROTEST HELD: The employees of the Taluka Municipal Committee Khairpur Nathan Shah boycotted their office work, stopped the supply of water to the town, and held a protest rally on Wednesday in protest against the non-payment of their salaries since the last three months.
The protesters started their rally from the main Chowk, marched through various areas, and stopped in front of the office of the Taluka Nazim, Khairpur Nathan Shah.
They were led by the Naib Nazim, Union Council Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mukhtiar Ahmed Abbasi, and the chairman, Citizens Action Committee, Nabi Bux Shaikh.
Addressing the protesters, Mr Mukhtiar said that the employees had not received their salaries since the last three months.
