LAHORE, Nov 23: Ten more railways stations lost power supplies on Wednesday owing to non-payment of arrears brining the toll to 111, Dawn has learnt.
A railways electrical engineering wing official told Dawn his organisation owed Rs225 million to Lesco in arrears which would be cleared in a day or so.
Funds were being arranged to clear arrears of 32 stations and other installations in Lahore division, 30 in Multan division, 13 each in Karachi and Sukkur divisions, eight each in Rawalpindi and Peshawar divisions and seven in Quetta division, said an officer of the PR at its headquarters in Lahore.
Owing to non-payment of arrears in Lahore, power supplies to Faisalabad Station, east and west colonies, Dhaba Singh, Chitana, Dhabanwala, Gojra, Yousafwala, Qadarabad, Bhoe Asil, Chhanga Manga, Habibabad, Renala Khurd, Okara city and Cantt, Raja Jang, Rao Khanwala, Athilpur, Kanganpur, Mandi Ahmadabad, Haveli Wasawaywala, Sehjowal, Kissan, Premnagar, Pattoki, Jahaniwala, Sheikhupura, Kot Lakhpat, Raiwind and Kasur were disconnected.
The electricity supply to Badami Bagh, Cantt and Walton stations was restored on Tuesday evening in Lahore Division when Rs18,102,136 arrears were paid.
In the Multan Division, power supplies to Multan DS office, Multan city station, power and pump houses besides Washing Line, Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Station, Chishtian, Daira Deen Panah, Machiwala, Rajanpur, Mailsi, Jampur, Sahiwal, Bhakkar,Kot Mithan, Mian Channu, Chichawatni, Moshinwal, Harrappa, Kacha Khu, Shorkot Cantt, Arifwala, Vehari, Khanewal Microwave, Loco, Layyah, Shujaabad, Shahnal and Chak were disconnected.
In the Karachi Division, the power supply to Hyderabad Station, Traffic Colony and Saloon Siding, TandoAdam, Badeen, Mirpurkhas, Zero Point, Kotri, Jhang Shai, Jhampir, Sun, Bolari and Dadu remained disconnected.
In the Sukkur Division, the places without electricity are: Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Nawab Shah, Rakha Road, Shahdadpur, Dhoor, Sarhad, Bandhi, Buchari, Kot Lalu, Ludho, Rati and Shakri.
In the Rawalpindi Division, power supplies to Tarki, Bakrala, Ratyal, Lehrri, Bhalwal, Palwan, Fateh Jang and Sargodha stations remained disconnected while in the Peshawar Division, Kundian, Mianwali, Mari Indus, Jhand, Basal, Domail, Injraand Sanjwal stations besides railway power house at Quetta, Sub-Station at DS Office, Lift Shop, four pumping plants in the Quetta Division were without power.
