LAHORE, Nov 18: The construction of LDA Avenue-One, the first residential scheme to be developed in the provincial metropolis exclusively for the government employees, was approved here on Monday at a meeting of the authority’s governing body.
Serving as well as retired employees of the provincial and federal governments and the armed forces will be entitled to the allotment of 10-marla and one-kanal plots in the scheme located on Raiwind Road. A 10-marla plot will be allotted for Rs248,000 in case of lump sum payment and Rs270,000 in case of payment in instalments. A one-kanal plot will cost Rs496,000 in case of payment in lump sum and Rs540,000 in case of instalments.
The governing body was told that applications for the allotment of plots would be received through 40 nominated branches of the Habib Bank and efforts would be made to allot the plots to every applicant. The area of the scheme would be increased in case the number of applicants exceeded the number of plots available.
The body was told that 400 plots valued at around Rs100 million had been found under unauthorized occupation in different LDA schemes. It was decided to auction the plots and distribute one per cent of the proceeds among the employees who identified such plots.
It was also informed that Wapda had allowed Rs80 million concession in the tubewells power bills to Wasa last year but the Lahore Electric Supply Company had revived the demand. The body heard the Lesco point of view and decided to take up the matter with the Wapda chairman.
The governing body decided to exempt the architects registered with the LDA from the payment of registration fee and allot an eight-kanal plot to the Fatimid Foundation in Johar Town in lieu the plot allotted 13 years ago without any extra payment. Possession of the plot could not be given to the foundation because of being located in a private housing scheme.
The meeting, presided over by district Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood, was attended by LDA director-general Ismail Qureshi, town Nazimeen Qaiser Amin Butt, Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan and Chaudhry Ashraf, the DCO, Wasa and TEPA managing directors and representatives of the provincial finance, housing, local government and planning and development departments.
