PESHAWAR/GHALANAI, Nov 16: One policeman was injured when militants attacked a checkpost in Sarband area on the suburbs of Peshawar on Wednesday. The injured, he said, was shifted to hospital from where he was discharged after initial treatment. He said that the attackers escaped, however, police launched a search operation in the area. He said that the building had been vacant for some time and militants entered it secretly. “We have re-enforced our personnel and they are in a position to face any challenge,” he said. He added that the area was close to the border of Khyber Agency and assailants could easily mange to escape. Another official said that militants also attacked a Frontier Constabulary checkpost at Aziz Market in Badhber early on Wednesday but the security personnel remained unhurt. According to officials, FIRs of both the cases were registered at Sarband and Badhber police stations respectively. In Mohmand Agency, security forces launched a house-to-house search operation in Haleemzai tehsil and recovered at least 303 guns on Wednesday. The operation was launched jointly by army, Frontier Corps and political authorities in Babikhel area of Haleemzai. Meanwhile, two tribesmen were injured when they were hit by a speeding car in Ekkaghound Bazaar in Mohmand on Wednesday. Officials said that the car was going to Ghallanai when the accident occurred. The injured men were identified as Tayyab, a resident of Pandiali, and Mohayuddin, an Afghan national. They were taken to Shabqadar hospital for treatment. Police launched a search operation in the area.
