TIMERGARAH, Nov 17: Residents of the Talash area observed a strike here on Sunday in a protest against the killing of a 15-year-old boy, Naveed Khan, son of Anwer Said, by some unknown assailants on Saturday night.
All the shops and bazaars in the area remained closed till 2pm to register the protest against the murder. Naveed worked at a tailor’s shop.
Some infuriated locals also blocked the Timergarah-Peshawar road for about two hours and gave police a 24-hour deadline for arresting the culprits.
Though the police so far have failed to arrest the killers, they claimed that soon they would be able to have a breakthrough in the case.
On the Saturday night, some people heard a gun-shot near Talash bazaar and spotted the boy smeared with blood in a critical condition. Naveed was the son of a low-grade government employee at a local school.
Some protesters claimed that although a police checkpoint was near the place of occurrence, the police had not turned up even after the incident. Despite the repeated requests, the police had come late with an-hour delay while the body was lying on the road, they added.
