HYDERABAD, Nov 17: A large number of employees of the Thermal Power Station, Jamshoro, observed ‘demands day’ and staged a protest demonstration at the power station on Saturday.

The ‘demands day’ was observed under the banner of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the union, Mohammad Sajan Panhwar, Naveed Ali Abbasi and others, said the deduction of generation, hardship and special allowances from the annual increment should be stopped.

They said the authority concerned had issued orders revoking the house acquisition which had affected 180 workers.

They said due to these orders the workers had to pay between Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 per month as house rent.

They demanded the withdrawal of these orders.

They further demanded medical facilities should be restored, the CMH should be taken on the panel of hospitals for Wapda employees and promotions should be given to deserving employees.

The ‘demands day’ was reportedly observed by the workers of thermal power stations throughout the country.

CONVOCATION: The convocation of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology will be held on Dec 21.
