TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 16: A man was seriously injured when three of his fellow prisoners attacked him in a police van (TS-3777) on Gojra Tehsil courts premises on Saturday.

Sources said the under-trial prisoners were being brought to the courts for hearing when the prisoners exchanged harsh words over a minor dispute.

Naseer Ahmad Jat, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Saeed allegedly attacked Mohammad Sajid who sustained a serious head injury. He was taken to the THQ hospital in Gojra.

The Gojra city police have registered a case against the accused.

DIES IN ACCIDENT: One person was killed and another seriously injured when a speeding bus ran over a donkey cart on Toba-Faisalabad Road near Janiwala Railway Station on Friday night.

Sources said the bus (RND-649) also overturned after hitting the cart, the owner of which, Mohammad Sarwar of Chak 285/GB, died while his seriously injured relative, Mohammad Hanif, was taken to the DHQ hospital. Some bus passengers also received minor injuries but they were allowed to continue journey after they had been given first-aid.

DECLARED A PO: Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) supervisor Mohammad Afzal has been declared a proclaimed offender by a senior civil judge in a corruption case registered against him by the city police on the complaint of local lawyer Chaudhry Abdul Naeem. The court fixed Dec 18 as the next date for hearing.
