LAHORE: Learning virtually nothing from the extremely embarrassing jail terms awarded to three Pakistan cricketers by a London court last Thursday in the ugly spot-fixing saga, international opener Ahmed Shahzad has continued to breach discipline during the ongoing Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship, despite receiving penalties.

Though 19-year-old Ahmed is showing good form with the bat for the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in the premier domestic first-class event, he received warning in the first two matches for showing unfair attitude against some decisions of the on-field umpires.

However, apparently paying no heed to the warnings, Ahmed has kept more or less the same approach. Subsequently, the player who has so far represented Pakistan in 19 ODIs and six T20 Internationals, was fined half match fee amounting to Rs 6,000 in the third match against Rawalpindi followed by another fine — amounting to full match fees (Rs12,000) — and a one-match ban in the fourth game against Karachi Blues which ended in draw at the National Stadium, Karachi on Thursday.

The one-match ban means Ahmed will not be featuring in the next match of the Trophy, to be played between the HBL and Faisalabad in Faisalabad from November 12. —Sports Reporter
