SDOs beaten up for detecting power theft

SIALKOT, Nov 15: A man and his armed sons allegedly beat up two SDOs of Wapda who had detected theft of electricity at their factory in Padalli village, Daska Tehsil, on Friday.

According to the FIR lodged by SDO (Daska) Hafiz Karim Bakhsh Soomro at Satrah Police Station, a Wapda inspection team led by SDOs Mohammad Wasim Kashif and Mohammad Ashraf Ali raided the hardboard manufacturing factory of Manzoor Husain in Padaalli and detected theft of electricity.

Manzoor Husain and his “armed” sons, Yasir, Faisal and Delawar, allegedly took the two SDOs hostage at gunpoint and beat them up with guns, iron rods and hockey sticks. Other Wapda employees fled the place to save their lives. The SDOs were rescued by some villagers who had gathered at the place.

Satrah police have registered a case against the accused who, however, are still at large.

SCHOOL BUILDINGS: The local education department has declared the buildings of seven government schools dangerous.

The schools are Govt Mir Hasan Girls High School, Muhallah Bijlighar, Sialkot city; primary sections of the Govt Girls School, Bhallawali, Daska tehsil, and the Govt Girls High School, Sokanwind, Pasrur tehsil; four rooms of the Govt Girls High School, Pasrur; the middle section of the Govt Boys High School, Daska tehsil; technical block of the Govt Pilot Boys Secondary School, Sialkot, and the Govt Boys High School, Khanpur Syedan, Pasrur tehsil.

These buildings have already been declared dangerous by the buildings department.
