ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that inept and corrupt rulers have failed in securing the basic rights of the people of Pakistan which is not only in contravention of the Islamic tenets, but contrary to democratic traditions also.

Imran Khan said that Raja Rind, an educated man, had to resort to the extreme step of self-immolation because he could not find a job for himself while a retired Railways employee, Mahmood Khan, died of a heart attack because he had to wait throughout a cold night for his pension.

"The time for the rulers to be held accountable for their unjust and cruel policies has come". He recounted that this was not the first time when the poor had committed suicide.

He said rulers had lost their right to rule and that there was no reason for them to continue even for a day now.
