The Rakht-e-Safar exhibition being held at Koel gallery in Karachi comprises of 22 works in total, all done with oil on canvas. Painted solely with the bold strokes of a palette knife, the paintings show the artist’s preference for making deliberate, thick strokes that set colors sharply against one another without too much blending or transition.

Anjum Saeed currently resides in New Jersey, and has done her first exhibition in Pakistan after three decades. Her last solo exhibition at Indus Gallery was organised by the Late Ali Imam in 1971 -Photos by Nadir Siddiqui/Dawn.com
