I WOULD like to draw the attention of senior officials towards the pixilated and blitzed result of CSS 2010 where only 626 candidates were declared qualified.

The vacancies announced for these qualified candidates were only 269 where 200 were fresh while 69 were old carryover vacancies from last year.

I belong to the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which is, undoubtedly, a region severely affected by terrorism. Fortunately among the successful candidates, I have 237th position from all over Pakistan and 42nd in my province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but unfortunately not enough has been allocated to any occupational group because of low number of vacancies for my province which were only 33 while qualified candidates were 127, including those from Fata.

It is true that preparing and studying for CSS is not an easy task. Even an uneducated pushcart vendor knows that a personstudying for CSS examinations has to burn midnight oil for becoming successful.

Furthermore, the CSS candidate has to spend a precious two to four years in preparation for the examinations and quite a considerable amount of money on buying textbooks and other study material.

But it is a heartbreaking and inconsolable fact that despite qualifying for the written examination, and getting through the medical test, psychological test and viva voce, if one fails to get allocated to any occupational group, then no compensation is given to him.

It is a dreadful violation of his fundamental rights. At least 65 per cent population of Pakistan consists of youth who are indisputably the future of their beloved country.

All qualified candidates of CSS are, in fact, representatives of these 65 per cent youth. So, if they are deprived of their due rights, then it would be a clear violation of their fundamental rights. Their rights need to be protected.

I, therefore, request the authorities concerned to kindly increase the total number of vacancies so that all qualifying candidates may get the fruit of their hard work.

Furthermore, increasing the number of vacancies is not a difficult task for the government because if they can reemploy retired officers and regularise contractual employees, then it is easy for them to create posts for qualifying candidates of CSS 2010.
