ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: The district judiciary has constituted a committee to dispose of 11033 cases pending with the District Courts due to shortage of judges.
The committee comprises members from bar and bench headed by District and Sessions Judge, Islamabad. The committee consists of President Bar Association Ishtiaq Ahmed Raja, Secretary General Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri, senior lawyer Asghar Sabzwari and Chaudhary Lateef Advocate.
The committee in its first meeting decided that the cases in which witnesses ensure their presence should not be adjourned for next date. It was also decided that all criminal cases will be heard by Rana Muhammad Khan and Chaudhary Mumtaz Hussain. All civil cases were taken back from them and transferred to the other judges.
Presently, there are seven civil judges including a senior civil judge and two additional civil judges. There is need for one additional district and sessions sudge and four civil judges.
