PESHAWAR, Nov 12: The court of an additional district and sessions judge here on Monday reserved its order over a bail application of an accused who was arrested in connection with the death of his mother.

Counsel for the applicant, Mazhar Ali Shah, contended that he was falsely implicated in the case by his influential relatives who wanted to grab his property.

Mr Shah was arrested on Oct 19 upon his return from the UK after he heard about the death of his mother, Sardar Begum. He and his close relatives alleged that his maternal uncles and aunties had been trying to implicate him in the case to grab his property.

A panel of lawyers, comprising Asadullah Chamkani, Attaullah Khan and Noor Alam Khan appeared for the applicant and argued that he was abroad when his mother was killed in mysterious circumstances.

They contended that the police had claimed that a fruit vendor had stated that the applicant was hatching a conspiracy to kill his mother with his friends. The counsel added that the police could not produce the vendor and it was a concocted story.

The counsel stated that the influential relatives of the applicant were hands in gloves with the police high-ups. They added that there was not an iota of evidence against the applicant.

The applicant, they claimed, had talked to his mother a few days before her death and she had expressed her fear from her brothers, who were forcing her to dis-inherit her son.
