GUJRANWALA, Oct 2: Scores of villagers threw traffic out of gear on Hafizabad Road to protest against the government for its failure to initiate work on the construction of the road lying pending for 18 years.

The protesters said they had to face a great deal of inconvenience in transporting their crops to grain markets on their tractor-trolleys due to the dilapidated state of road.

They chanted slogans against the government and demanded the early construction of the road. Traders and farmers of Qila Dedar Singh, Ladhewala Warraich, Naukher, Ugo Chak and other areas were also among protesters.

They said the Hafizabad Road was an important highway between Gujranwala and Sargodha, but the authorities concerned considered it suffice to carry out only a patch work.
