Drug trafficker convicted

LAHORE, Nov 11: An additional district and sessions judge on Monday handed down life imprisonment and Rs100,000 fine to a drug trafficker after his judicial confession.

Shahdara police recovered 50 kilograms of heroin and 120 kgs of hashish from the house of convict Muhammad Idrees on July 30, 1999, on a tip-off.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charges after which the court commuted the sentence to life imprisonment. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo further imprisonment of one year. — Reporter
