KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah Monday said provincial government has so far released Rs 3.5 billion for relief and rehabilitation measures which include Rs 2.5 billion for relief and Rs 1 billion for amount to be released through Pakistan Cards.
This was said by the Sindh CM while speaking at a high-level meeting at CM House, said a statement.
He said that out of 23 districts, 13- districts had received heavy damage and government of Sindh is making all out efforts for rescue and relief measures of affected people.
The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to provision of funds to the districts, which have been badly hit by heavy rains in the province of Sindh.
Chief Minister Sindh in his remarks said that due to recent heavy rains, there are high losses in the province and it is a disaster for the people.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that the provincial government has released 1/3rd of budgetary allocation to all districts, and there are certain areas, where development works could be initiated.
He stressed that development work should be initiated on right bank of River Indus and the progress on development on those areas be expedited.
The meeting was informed that there are eight ROs functioning in Badin district while summary for purchase/installation of 32 more ROs has been approved and a 3-member committee will select the sites of those areas.
The CM Sindh directed that the hindrances if any be got removed while Planning and Development department and the Finance Department should follow the progress of line departments.
He directed that upto date statement of losses/damage be assessed and submitted in next meeting.
