Swindlers’ gang busted

ISLAMABAD, Sept 19: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) busted an inter-provincial gang of swindlers including two brothers on Monday, a police spokesman said.

The swindlers used to give ads in the newspapers offering houses and cars on affordable prices. When the people contacted them, they showed them cars or houses with the prices less than the market rate. If someone showed willingness to purchase a house or a car, they asked him to pay a portion of the amount as advance. Afterwards, they disappeared from the scene. Next time they appeared in the newspapers with different names. Mostly, they operated by impersonating themselves as owners of Ages Links Multi-national Company (Pvt) Ltd in sector I- 8 and Wisal & Company at Insaf Plaza in F-10 Markaz.

The spokesman said in response to several complaints, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Yousuf Malik, gave the task to the CIA to trace and arrest the members of the gang involved in defrauding the people.

A team headed by In-Charge CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon succeeded in arresting three members of the gang.

The police team also recovered Rs90,000 fake currency notes, Rs140,000 looted money and gold ornaments from their possession. It has also been revealed that they were earlier challaned by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Industrial Area police and Shalimar police along with police of other districts in connection with fraud and cheating. They had also been declared proclaimed offenders by the court.

The IGP and SSP appreciated the performance of the CIA police team and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for the police team.
