ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Pakistan has sealed its border with Afghanistan at Torkham after a shooting incident.
Pakhtoon leader Haji Mohammed Zahir, a son of Afghanistan’s slain vice president Haji Qadeer, was fired upon at the border. However, he escaped unhurt.
Officials said the border was temporarily sealed. “It is a routine measure which has nothing to do with the shooting in Afghanistan,” they pointed out.
They said that the crossing was usually closed for Friday prayers.
One of the bodyguards of Haji Mohammed Zahir was killed and another wounded. Mr Zahir had gone to the border to close an illegal checkpoint on the road from Torkham to Jalalabad, where militiamen used to stop motorists and demanding money. —PPI
