MINGORA, Nov 8: Liquefied gas is either not available or being sold at high rates here and the shopkeepers have raised the prices of daily use items. The officials have not taken any action in this regard.
The district Nazim, district coordination officer, police and Tehsil council have held meetings with the dealers and agency holders of liquefied gas, but the prices have not been reduced.
The official rate per kilogram of gas is Rs30 to Rs35, but Rs45 to Rs50 are being charged.
The shopkeepers complained that the agency holders were selling gas cylinders at high rates in the black market in connivance with the police.
It was reported that the gas quota reserved for the area was not being given.
Councillor Naseem Akhtar in a statement on Wednesday expressed her shock over the increasing rates of the daily use items and asked the district government authorities to take action against those hoarding the items for profit.
TRANSFORMER DEMANDED: The inhabitants of Sarsenai Kabal have said the transformer of the village has been out of order for many days and the Peshawar Electric Supply Company are not taking any notice of it.
Local newsmen said on Wednesday that the people were facing difficulties due to the absence of electricity supply.
They said the villagers were compelled to fetch drinking water from far away places, as the tubewells were not operative.
They urged the district government and Pesco authorities to take notice of the situation.
RESULTS DELAYED: Delay in the announcement of MA and MSc results by the University of Peshawar is causing unrest among the students.
Talking to this correspondent on Thursday, some students said that without getting detailed marks-sheets or degrees they were not allowed to sit in interviews or tests for jobs. They demanded early announcement of the results.
