Body recovered

MANSEHRA, Sept 3: Police on Saturday recovered the body of a man who was allegedly kidnapped from the Potha area.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Liaquat. The Saddar police station registered a case on the report of the victim's brother Shakarullah.

Meanwhile, a speeding vehicle ran over a young boy, Mohammad Junaid, injuring him seriously. He was taken to hospital where he died.

Children's kidnapping

PESHAWAR, Sept 3: PPP-S Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed grave concern over the kidnapping of 40 children from Mamond area of Bajaur Agency and termed the action as failure of the government.

The PPP-S leader, in a statement on Saturday, said the government had failed to protect lives and properties of the people and unrest among the masses was increasing.

"Had the government taken stern action against those involved in the attacks on our security personnel, the situation would have never deteriorated to the extent," he said.

He said the anti-social elements were regrouping and the ratio of crimes and terrorism acts was on the rise as the rulers were least bothered to protect lives and properties of the people. — Bureau Report

Protest against Pesco

SWABI, Sept 3: People from various areas on Saturday blocked the Swabi-Jahangira road to protest against what they alleged the corrupt officials of the Pesco.

The protesters gathered outside the Pesco office at district headquarters, chanting slogans against the authority for not even bothering to repair the faulty transformers.

They said the Pesco staff was not heeding calls to repair the faulty power transformers at Gar and Naro Banda areas.

The protesters were led by PTI's former information secretary Shah Wali. They marched from their villages to the district headquarters. The people said they were without electricity for the last few days. — Correspondent

Suicide attack victims

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 3: DCO Nisar Ahmad has directed the officials of revenue department to compile a detailed report of losses in the Darra Pezu suicide attack and ensure entry of each individual who suffered in the devastating explosion on Thursday night.

During a visit to the blast site on Saturday, he said the government would compensate the blast victims besides all out support and assistance would be provided to the affected people in rehabilitation process.

Mr Nisar also went to the houses of those killed in the blast and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

He said the wounded people would be provided all kinds of treatment facilities as instructions to this effect had been issued to the health authorities. — Correspondent

Constable arrested

NOWSHERA, Sept 3: The police on Saturday arrested a constable in a theft case and recovered stolen items and cash from his possession.

Sources said that Constable Wali Mohammad was arrested after the police recovered stolen amount of Rs12,000, 1.3 tola gold ornaments and a 30-bore pistol from his possession.

Robbers had taken away valuables from the house of Ilyas Khan of Dagi area of Pabbi on Friday night. The Pabbi police station registered a case and started investigation.—Correspondent
