HYDERABAD, Sept 2: The Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami has urged the Supreme Court to include Dr Zulfikar Mirza and Agha Siraj Durrani in the hearing into the Karachi killings because they seemed to “know everything”.
He accused Rehman Malik of supporting terrorists in Karachi, saying that he appeared to be the minister of a neighbouring country and blaming him for the anarchy in Karachi.
Speaking at an Eid party here on Thursday evening, the JI chief said his party would take out processions this month for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Munawar Hasan said the United States wanted to dismember Pakistan and was trying to separate Karachi and Balochistan from the country.
The general secretary of the party's Sindh chapter, Rashid Naseem, the Amir of Hyderabad JI, Shaikh Shoukat Ali, and Secretary Fawad Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
Syed Munawwar Hasan said the Jamaat-i-Islami was struggling for an Islamic revolution because Pakistan was created in the name of Islam.
He alleged that the rulers were implementing a “foreign agenda”, adding that Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf had framed internal and foreign policies under the dictates of Washington.
He said the frequency of drone attacks was rising alarmingly and the enemies of Pakistan were bombarding people of tribal areas.
Syed Munawar Hasan deplored the disappearance of a large number of people in Balochistan, saying that it did not bode well for the country's stability.
He said the government had failed on all fronts and although the rulers themselves had benefited from the policy of reconciliation, they had given nothing to the nation except for hunger, unemployment and lawlessness.
In reply to a question about the restoration of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, the Jamaat Amir said first “we must find out those insiders who worked against the alliance”.
