ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought comments from directors' generals of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military

Intelligence (MI) and the capital's Senior Superintendent of Police over alleged harassment of a Hizbut Tahrir activist.

Zaheer Khan has filed a petition, alleging harassment and fearing 'abduction' by spy agencies.

Umar Hayat Sandhu, his counsel, told the court of Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan that his client was well educated and running a private school as principle in Islamabad peacefully. He said officials of the spy agencies are constantly

harassing his client, adding that on April 4 this year they visited his house, inquired about family members and threatened him.

Sandhu said earlier on October 17, 2009 police arrested the petitioner and involved him in false case, in which he was acquitted by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi.

He said only a week back on August 19 officials of secret agencies visited the petitioner's village and threatened his family members. On the very next day the counsel said officials visited Zaheer's in-laws in tehsil Nakyal and threatened them. Sandhu said the officials of MI visited the school of the petitioner and tried to get information about him.

Declaring Zaheer innocent, the counsel added that he has never involved himself in “activities prejudicial to public safety and integrity of Islam”. He asked the court to accept the petition and direct the respondents to refrain from illegally harassing Zaheer and his family.

In July and August, petitions for the recovery of six missing HuT activists have been filed in IHC. The court had declared four activists as missing persons and sent their cases to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances. One activist of the banned outfit has been released and the case of another is pending before the court.
