Quiz column
I am an old reader of Young World. The magazine offers many interesting things to read such as stories, jokes, articles and game reviews. I would like to suggest to you to add a weekly quiz column in the magazine — it will help improve our general knowledge and prove to be a healthy brainstorming exercise.

My first fast
This is with reference to the story My first fast by Syed Farhan Ali (YW, August 6, 2011). The experience shared by the writer reminded me of my first fast. I was nine years old when I kept my first fast and it was really an unforgettable day. All my relatives had arrived for my roza kushai ceremony, they had brought cute gifts for me and my mother had prepared delicious Iftar.
Now I am 12 years old and have been keeping fasts since then but the memories of my first fast are still fresh in my mind.

Homework blues
This is regarding the story Homework blues by Saira Owais Adil (YW, August 6, 2011). I completely agree with the writer that students avoid doing homework during summer vacation — they remain occupied with picnics, parties, etc., and forget to complete homework.
Summer vacation provides a wonderful opportunity to revise what had been taught before the holidays and thus you can perform better in your class after vacation. So, never waste your summer holidays, rather utilise them in the best possible way. However, teachers should consider that it’s the right of students to enjoy themselves during holidays so they shouldn’t burden the students with a lot of homework.

Don’t judge a book by its cover
This is with reference to the story Don’t judge a book by its cover by Abida Kausar (YW, July 30, 2011). The story gave an important lesson to all those people who deliberately make fun of others and hurt others’ feelings. Therefore, we should value all human beings without discriminating them on the basis of looks, fashion sense or accent.

Delma comes to the rescue
This is with reference to the story Delma comes to the rescue (YW, July 30, 2011). It is my firm believe that the one who saves someone’s life is always superior than the one who tries to harm someone. God also helps the one who helps others. This is the holy month of Ramazan, which teaches us to be kind to others and like Delma, all of us should make every possible effort to be helpful to others.

(II)
This is regarding the story Delma comes to the rescue. I appreciate Young World’s new venture with K&N’s team in bring us some interesting material for children to read.
Delma’s story of saving her friends is an inspiration for those who want to do charity work. It’s not only an action hero who can save someone’s life, but we can also save someone by giving them a new ray of hope to live. For example, if someone wants to study and he/she doesn’t have school fee or books, we can help him/her out in acquiring education, which ultimately will give that person a new life.

K&N’s stories
This is with reference to K&N’s new venture, the weekly story section in the Young World. It’s a great idea as every week weget to read an additional story that not only amuses us but also gives us an important lesson of life.
