Tea auction

CHITTAGONG, Nov 5: The average price of Bangladesh teas edged up on strong demand at the weekly tea auction on Tuesday, brokers said

“Some 1.06 million kg were sold at an average price of 63.62 taka ($1.09) per kg, up 0.19 taka from the last sale. The withdrawal percentage was 6.25,” a market report of National Brokers Limited (NBL) said.

Buyers from Pakistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Bangladesh participated at the auction.

Some 50 kg of well made Pekoe Fannings realized a highest price 182 taka per kg. Other grades were sold between 56.50 taka and 99 taka per kg.—Reuters
