HYDERABAD, Nov 4: The DCO, Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, has directed the director general, HDA, to prepare a master plan for repair, renovation and extension of the city zoo.

He was talking at a meeting on development of the municipal garden, which included the zoo, held at Shahbaz Hall here on Monday.

The meeting was informed that Rs1,31,00,000 were required only for repairs of cages and other facilities at the zoo.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over lack of recreational facilities in the city, the DCO said that the district government, with cooperation of the private sector, had planned to provide maximum recreational facilities to the people of Hyderabad.

He invited proposals from the residents of the city in this regard.

Mr Ali asked the taluka council to submit its report in shortest possible time for development of the zoo called Rani Bagh and effective commercial use of the Fun- land’s open air theatre and Abbas Bhai Park.

He directed the municipal authorities to develop parking area and provide easy access to the Fun-land.

He assured that effective security measures would be adopted during the visiting hours.

The taluka Nazim, Qasimabad, Noor Mohammad Shoro, the officers of the Hyderabad Development Authority and other departments and contractors of the Fun-land attended the meeting.

TRIBUTE: Tribute was paid to Mumtaz Mirza for his services in the cause of literature, culture and folk music on the occasion of his sixth death anniversary here on Sunday.

Family members, writers, officials and other people laid floral wreaths on the grave of Mirza.

Quran Khwani and Majlis-i-Aza was also held.

The speakers said the research conducted by Mirza on the Sindhi language, literature, culture, folk music and Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai would never be forgotten.
