Khurram excels with bat and ball

KARACHI, Aug 7: Medicam CC and Omer CC won their matches in the 1st Vital Five Club Ramazan Cricket Festival for the State Life Trophy at the Vital Five Ground here on Sunday.

Medicam CC held off Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to win their Group ‘D’ fixture by 18 runs mainly due to a fine all-round performance by Pakistan discard Khurram Manzoor.

After being asked to bat first, Medicam CC piled up 184-7 after Khurram Manzoor (50 off 34 balls, three sixes and three fours)and Tahir Mughal (57 off 42 balls, four sixes and three fours) sharing an opening partnership of 99.

Later in the innings, Shahid Latif lashed three sixes and a couple of fours in making 31 off only 14 deliveries.

Khurram, named Wall Street Man-of-the-Match, then starred with the ball with his part-time off-spinners as he took three for 45 while KPT mustered 166-8 despite a second-wicket stand of 92 between Behram Khan (41 off 26 balls, four fours and twosixes) and Faraz Patel (58 off 43, seven fours and one six).

In the Group ‘D’ match played earlier on Sunday, Wall Street Man-of-the-Match Ali Asad (61 off 48 balls, five fours and two sixes) and Naveed Sarwar (58 off 49, four fours and two sixes) put on 124 for the second wicket as Omer CC reached 167-6.Hammad Azam took 4-26.

Advance Telecom failed miserably in their turn and were bundled out for 98 in 18.4 overs.
