THATTA, Nov 3: The Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), Thatta, has announced that they would observe an indefinite strike from Nov 4 if transfer orders of teachers, especially of women, were not withdrawn immediately.
The GSTA said that it was due to political victimization by the Shirazi brothers. Talking to newsmen on Friday, the central leader of the GSTA, Ghulam Mustafa Soho, revealed that so far over 800 teachers, mostly females, had been displaced by the EDO (education), Thatta, Qamaruzzaman Siddiqui, and it was still going on, rendering academic losses to the students throughout the district.
The GSTA chief said that the majority of newly-transferred teachers had honestly performed their election duties and were now being victimized.
On being contacted, the EDO (Education), said he was bound to oblige the district Nazim and all transfers were being made under his orders.
It was learnt from reliable sources that the EDO had flatly refused to comply with the directives of the secretary education regarding the transfers.
This correspondent witnessed a huge crowd at the EDO office where anxious parents and teachers had thronged to get the orders withdrawn.
