Two Afghan women shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Aug 2: Two Afghan women were killed in mysterious circumstances at Eidgah Colony Road here on Tuesday, police said.

Kamran, a complainant, told Faqirabad police that two Afghan families had a dispute, which led to the killing of two women identified as Kiramat Bibi and Rahima Bibi.

Police said that Shan Gul and Shahi Gul were nominated in the FIR. The accused Shan Gul is stated to be husband of Rahima Bibi but it could not be ascertained as to what was the exact cause of the killing of the two women. Police said that the complainant avoided telling the exact story. However, he said that cause of the crime could be ascertained after the arrest of the accused.

An official of Faqirabad police station said that raids were conducted in different localities but not arrest was made. “It seems that accused have fled to Afghanistan,” he added.

Meanwhile, police failed to recover a six-year-old child, Ansar, who had been kidnapped by unidentified persons from Ittehad Colony on Sunday.

An official said that efforts were made to get any clue to the whereabouts of the kidnapped child.

Haji Gul Rehman told police that his grandson Ansar was playing outside his residence when some unidentified persons pickedhim. He said that the kidnappers had not contacted his family so far.

“I do not know as to who is involved in kidnapping of the boy,” he said and added that his family had no enmity.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested 70 accused including 10 proclaimed offenders during raids and random checking in the limits of different police stations on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said that proclaimed offenders arrested in the limits of Faqirabad police station included Irshad Gul, Imran and Inamullah.

He said that Bashir Zaman, Nadeem and Waqif Khan were arrested in the limits of Bala Mani police station. Similarly, Noor Rehman, Juma Khan and Yousaf were arrested by Khazana police and Mohammad Tariq was arrested by Badbher police.

He said that four Kalashnikovs, one hand grenade, one rifle and seven pistols were recovered from the possession of arrested persons.
