Lad shot dead by rivals

LAHORE, Aug 2: A 25-year old lad was killed and his brother injured when their rivals opened fire on them near Shahdara Morr on Tuesday.

The police said Muhammad Waqas and his brother, Fahad, who were produced at the Ferozwala district courts in connection with a case, were being brought back to Ferozwala by a private vehicle.

As they reached near Shahdara Morr, two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire. Both of them were injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where Waqas died.

Two women were injured after the roof of a house collapsed at Sodiwal Stop on Multan Road on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 said Fatima Bashir, 65, and Nasreen Iftikhar, 28, were rescued with the help of neighbours and shifted to Services Hospital.

FIRE:

Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes in two house fire incidents on Tuesday.

Malik Awais of Wahdat Colony and a resident of Q-Block, Model Town, alerted the Rescue 1122 about blaze in their houses.

The cause of the fire was said to be a short circuit.
