KARACHI: Two die in accidents

KARACHI, Nov 15: Two persons died in road accidents in the city on Thursday.

The police said that Shahzad, aged nine, died in a road accident in Mauripur. He was run over by an unidentified vehicles while walking across the main road. The injured boy was sent to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

An unidentified man died in a hit-and-run accident in Shershah.

ROBBERIES: Five robberies were committed in the city on Thursday, the police said.

Bandits intercepted a businessman, Mohammed Husain, in New Karachi and attempted to rob him of cash. When he put up resistance to the bandits, they opened fire on him and fled the scene. Hussain was injured and taken to a hospital.

Armed men robbed a reporter of a Sindhi-language daily, Ibrat, near Shaheen Complex in the night. He was intercepted and robbed of his mobile phone and cash by two men when he was on his way to Karachi Press Club. He lodged and FIR at Artillery Maidan police station.

Robbers barged into a house in Liaquatabad, held the family as hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash and gold jewellery. Bandits robbed Mehboob Ali of cash and gold jewellery in Sher Shah.

Two armed men robbed Mukhtar of cash and other valuables.

HOSTAGE RECOVERED: The police and the CPLC recovered a three-year old girl on Thursday who had been kidnapped for ransom on Tuesday, Nov 13. Ramsha, daughter of Abdul Majeed, was kidnapped while plying outside her house in Shareefabad. Her father informed the police and the CPLC which tracked down the kidnappers by tapping their phones. A police party and the CPLC conducted a joint raid on the kidnappers’ hideout in Naseerabad and recovered the girl and arrested three kidnappers at their hideout.
