KARAK, July 30: The affected landowners of Lawagher and Karak dams have threatened to hold protest if they are not provided with the compensation within one week. They complained to have brought the issue in the notice of the elected representatives time and again but without any effect.
The landowners, including Gul Bad Shah, Ali Hassan, Sardar Ali and Gohar Zaman, said the government had 'occupied' their lands for the construction of Lawaghar and Karak dams since long, adding, both the dams had already been completed but they were yet to be compensated.
The landowners complained that their precious trees had also been chopped but they were not paid any compensation.
The landowners warned the officials of concerned departments not to create unnecessary delays in disbursing of the compensation amount. CIVIC ISSUES:
President of a local organisation, Sahil, and former union council nazim, Noor Islam Khan, has demanded solution to the problems of the people of Latamber and adjacent areas. He criticised the local lawmakers for ignoring their constituency.
He was speaking at a meeting of the organisation on Saturday. He said about 20,000 people of Latamber and adjacent areas were facing acute water shortage and had no facility of electricity.
He said MNA Mufti Mohammad Ajmal and MPA Malik Qasim Khan had turned a blind eye to their problems. He warned the two lawmakers to either resolve the problems or face ire of the people. FUEL SHORTAGE:
Majority of telephone exchanges in the Karak have stopped functioning during loadshedding hours due to fuel shortage.
Sources in the telephone department said fuel shortage had forced them to shut the exchanges during the loadshedding hours, depriving the subscribers of the facility.
The journalist community has also been affected as they cannot send their news to their respective newspapers in time.
The subscribers demanded of the concerned department to arrange fuel for the telephone exchanges.
