Pakistani opens computer centre in US

AUSTIN (TEXAS), Nov 2: The Mayor of Austin (Texas), Gus Garcia, opened the largest computer training centre of the city, Cybertex, owned by a Pakistani businessman the other day.

Underscoring the importance of such a computer training centre for the economy of the city. Mayor Garcia, observed that Cybertex offers opportunities to the people to ready themselves for the impending economic recovery.

Referring to the downturn in the economy which has impacted the state, Garcia however, noted that Cybertex would prepare workforce for the impending economic recovery in the state.

He commended Cybetex’s Chief Operating officer, Iqbal Sheikh, for making a significant contribution to the city’s economy and noted with the establishment of the largest computer training centre in Austin, Mr Sheikh’s “dream has come true.”

Mr Shaikh, who worked in the office of the Karachi’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry for almost 30 years, started Cybertex training centre in 1999 with four computers in a makeshift location and now the centre has moved to an expanded location in downtown Austin occupying one whole floor.

In his speech, on the occasion, Shaikh thanked the people of Texas for affording him the opportunity to establish and grow Cybertex into the largest computer training centre of the city.

“Whatever I have completed in the short span of three years could not have been possible without the continued help and support from the Austin’s community and business leaders,” he said.
