MULTAN, Nov 2: The Punjab chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association has demanded resignation of the Punjab governor, health, education ministers and secretaries.
“They should resign for creating unrest among a large segment of society through their faulty policies,” PMA’s Punjab president Dr Dil Muhammad Mirza said on Saturday. He was briefing newsmen after the working committee meeting of Punjab PMA here.
He said that through an unanimous resolution, the meeting declared the three as persona non grata. They were earning a bad name to the present government.
The meeting vehemently condemned the vindictive and imperious attitude of the Punjab governor. It appreciated Prof Dr Mahmood Ali Malik for speaking truth.
He warned the government against victimization of PMA leaders and members saying “this may result in closure of all public hospitals throughout the province.”
He said teacher and doctors would decided their future course of action under the banner of the joint action committee.
The meeting strongly condemned the unjustified detention of Dr Amir Aziz and demanded his immediate release. “Please do not make the country a state of America.”
He said PMA was optimistic that the new governments in the centre and province would give the health and education sectors priority and ensure free of cost basic education and health to every citizen. — Correspondent
