ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: The Election Commission on Friday notified the results of 10 seats reserved for non-Muslims, setting the stage for holding of inaugural session of the National Assembly on Nov 6.

According to the results announced by the EC on Friday, the PML-Q tally rose by four more seats, PPP’s and MMA’s by two each and PML-N’s and MQM’s by one apiece.

“The composition of the lower house of the Parliament is complete and the session of the National Assembly can now be called by the president,” the EC said.

However, re-polling has been ordered in two Balochistan seats, NA-262 and NA-263.

Lots were drawn between MQM and the National Alliance by the EC on Friday, in the presence of the two parties’ representatives, an exercise in which the MQM emerged victor, with the tenth seat reserved for non-Muslims being allotted to it.

An information ministry announcement, sent to the newspaper offices seeking the names of journalists who would cover the National Assembly’s inaugural session, said the first meeting was likely to be held on Nov 6.

The PML-Q’s non-Muslim MNAs, whose names were notified on Friday, are Akram Masih, son of Tariq Masih; Haroon Qaisar, son of Tariq C. Qaiser; Gyan Chand Singh, son of Tirath Ram; M.P. Bhandara, son of P.D. Bhandara.

Those whose names were notified as MNAs on PPP share included Mushtaq Victor, son of Mahand Bakhsh and Ramesh Lal, son of Madan Lal.

On MMA ticket, the names of Pervaiz Masih, son of Faqir Masih, and Asiya Nasir, wife of Nasir Masih, were notified as MNAs.

Krishan Bheel became MNA on PML-N’s behalf. The tenth seat went to Dev Das of MQM.

In the final analysis, PML-Q is the majority party, with 122 seats, but still short of 48 seats to gain a simple majority.

The Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians comes second with 81 seats, followed by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal which secured 59 seats.

Of the total 12 Fata MNAs, seven contested on MMA symbol, but the EC termed all of them independents.
