WASHINGTON, July 20: The chairperson of the US House Committee said on Wednesday that her panel was putting Pakistan on notice to follow US instructions on all major issues or lose all American aid.
A bill moved in the committee had put Pakistan “on notice that it is no longer business as usual”, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said.
“They will be held to account if they continue to refuse to cooperate with our efforts to eliminate the nuclear black market, destroy the remaining elements of Osama Bin Laden’s network, and vigorously pursue our counter-terrorism objectives,” the Republican lawmaker warned.
The committee’s ranking Democrat, Congressman Howard Berman, however, warned that cutting of Pakistan might not be in US interest.
