KARACHI: PPP gets largest number of women’s seats in PA

KARACHI, Oct 31: The Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians have bagged 12 seats for women, the lion’s share of the 29 reserved seats for women in the Sindh Assembly.

They are followed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement with seven seats, whereas the National Alliance and the PML-Q have both have bagged three seats each. The PML-F and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal have got two seats each.

These seats have been allocated to the parties on the principle of the proportional representation system of the political parties’ lists of candidates, specified in Article 8E on the basis of general seats won by each political party in the Provincial Assembly.

The lists of candidates for women’s seats were submitted along with their nomination forms in order of priority at the time of the filling of nomination forms by each party.

According to the information gathered from the election commission sources, the names of women candidates likely to be notified as members of the Sindh Assembly on the basis of their party affiliations are:

PPP: Nuzhat Pathan, Dr Mehreen Bhutto, Ferheen Moghul, Fariha Razzaq Haroon, Shama Arif Mitthani, Shazia Atta Muhammad Mari, Saira Shaliani, Nasreen Chandio, Sharfunnias Leghari, Humera Almani, Syeda Bano Siddiqui and Shamim Ara Panhwar.

MUTTAHIDA: Shumaila Nazar, Heer Ismail, Farzana Saeed, Bilqees Mukhtar, Farina Anbreen, Aziz Qazilbash and Farida Bano Baloch.

PML-Q: Dr Hameeda Khuhro, Dr Saeeda Malik and Mrs Farida Baloch.

NATIONAL ALLIANCE: Rani Anbeen Jan, Rahila Tiwana, and Tasleem Bhurgari.

MMA: Sakina Bibi and Kulsoom Nizamani

PML-F: Begum Gulzar Unnar and Naila Inam.
