HYDERABAD, Oct 31: The district and sessions judge, Parkash Lal M. Ambwani, on Wednesday sent a ten-year-old girl to a Darul Aman after she said the Shahpur police were harassing her family at the insistence of a resident of her village.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s MPA-elect, Aslam Pervez, had filed an application on the behalf of the girl, Shahzadi, resident of Allah Dino Sand village, Matiari taluka, and requested the judge to send her to Darul Aman and summon police officials concerned.

The judge also called police officials of the Shahpur police station to appear before the court on Nov 6.

In her application, Shahzadi said a man, Khamiso alias Mashooq Khaskheli, 25, was pressurizing her parents to send her with him, claiming that she was married to him.

She said she was not married to the man.

She alleged Khamiso, with the help of the Shahpur police, an influential man of the area, Allah Dino, and other people, had kidnapped her parents.

The girl requested the court to provide her protection and restrain the police from harassing her family and supporting Khamiso.

SHC: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad, on Thursday issued a notice to the Sindh AAG for Nov 12 in connection with the hearing of an appeal against a death sentence.

Advocate Qurban Ali H. Chohan had filed the appeal on behalf of Alam.

Alam was sentenced to death by the district and sessions Judge, Sanghar, under the Qisas and Diyat Ordinance, on Jan 18, 1994. He was found guilty of murdering a man, Ashiq, on Aug 24, 1989.

The bench, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Gulzar Ahmad, directed the Sindh AAG to appear before the court for explanation of some legal points of the Qisas and Diyat Ordinance.

CASE: A civil judge, Abida Parveen, on Wednesday disposed of the case of a reporter of a Sindhi newspaper, Sarfaraz Vistro, following a compromise between him and the complainant of the case, Saeed Khan Leghari.

The judge accepted the report of the police and the statement of the complainant, Saeed Khan Leghari.

The complainant said that there had been some misunderstanding which led to the registration of the case.

He raised no objection when asked by the court.

The Bhittai Nagar police, on Oct 24, had arrested Sarfaraz Vistro and two of his brothers following a call to the police control by Saeed Khan Leghari, an official of the State Bank.

Mr Sarfaraz was released on bail.
