KABUL, Oct 29: Three Afghan prisoners released from a US military prison on Guantanamo Bay in Cuba said on Tuesday they were well-treated while in jail, but innocent of any crime.

“Imprisoning me was unjust and cruel, I didn’t do anything wrong,” said Haji Faiz Mohammad, who was arrested in the village of Dehrawad in Uruzgan province, some 400 kilometres southwest of Kabul.

Jon Mohammad, who was taken prisoner during a battle in Kunduz in northern Afghanistan, said he had been forced to join the Taliban.

“I didn’t commit a single crime. The Taliban forced me to join their ranks. I was never truly a Taliban fighter,” he said. —AFP
