RAWALPINDI, Oct 27: Gulrez Shahid, Sunday claimed the President Cup title with a net score of 210 at the Rawalpindi Golf Club.
A five handicapper from the Islamabad Golf Club, Gulrez was overnight leader with an aggregate of 140 going into the final round. He maintained his superiority by carding 69 net to lay his hands on the trophy.
Finishing runner-up was Inayatullah Khan of Kabul Golf Club, Swat with net 72 for an overall score of 213 while another Islamabad Club golfer, Hamza Amin totalled 216 after a final round of 69 net.
The gross event, contested for the Attock Bowl was annexed by the experienced Islamabad golfer, Taimur Hassan who scored three over par 75 to finish with a total of 225.
Adil Jahangir of Lahore Gymkhana took second place with a score of 230 carding an identical three over par 75 as did third placed Muhammad Babar Khokhar of PAF Golf Club, Islamabad whose overall score was 234.
The ladies net trophy went to Uzma Nazir of the host club who carded net 143. She was followed by Asma Afzal Shami (152) from Lahore Garrison Golf Club while Rubab Haider (155) was third.
Rawalpindi Golf Club’s Tahira Nazir took the top honours in the gross tournament with 168 leaving Mehvish Javed (181) and Shahzadi Gulfam (186) in second and third place respectively.
